All members of Autonomy Motor Sports Club should familiarise themselves with the Club's rules and abide by them. Integrity and good conduct are required of all members. Membership election and expulsion is at the discretion of the Committee.
CLUB RULES
1. TITLE
The name of the Club shall be “Autonomy Motor Sports Club”, hereafter referred to as “the Club”. The Club shall be governed by the Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association of Autonomy Motor Sports Club Limited. Autonomy Motor Sports Club Limited is a charitable company limited by guarantee incorporated and registered in England and Wales with company number 07020477 whose registered office is 10 Cliff Parade, Wakefield, WF1 2TA (“the Company”).
2. OBJECTS
2.1 To further interest in motoring and motor sport.
2.2 To provide members with information and assistance on matters connected with motoring and motor sport.
2.3 To promote motor events and competitions in accordance with the rules of Motorsport UK and the laws of England.
2.4 To arrange tours, lectures, discussions and social and other meetings.
2.5 To afford members such benefits and privileges as it may be possible to arrange.
2.6 To raise money for recognised charities as may be selected from time to time by the Committee at its complete discretion.
3. CONSTITUTION
3.1 Persons of not less than eighteen years of age shall be eligible for membership.
3.2 The membership shall consist of:
3.2.1 Ordinary Members, who are members of the Club elected in accordance with Rule 5 in order to take part in the Club’s motor events and competitions and who are also involved in the long term development and running of the Club;
3.2.2 Events Members, who are members of the Club elected in accordance with Rule 5 in order to take part in the Club’s motor events and competitions only. The membership of Events Members shall not be renewed automatically at the time that their subscription falls due in accordance with Rule 6; and
3.2.3 Social Members, who may be elected by the Committee at its complete discretion and who shall not be permitted to take part as drivers in any of the Club’s events or competitions.
4. MANAGEMENT
4.1 The authority and responsibility for the transaction of the business of the Club shall be vested in the Committee which shall be the Board of Directors of the Company (“the Board”). In addition to the powers and authorities by these rules expressly conferred on them, the Committee may exercise all powers and do all acts in furtherance of the Objects for which the Club is established.
4.2 The Board may appoint a Sub-Committee to assist with the day to day running of the Club. Only the Board and Ordinary Members may be members of the Sub-Committee.
5. ELECTION OF MEMBERS
5.1 Applications of candidates for membership of the Club shall be submitted to the Committee, and the election of such candidates shall be at the discretion of the Committee. The name and address and description of the candidate and names of his proposer and seconder, being Ordinary Members of the Club, shall be stated on each application submitted to the Committee, provided that in the case of a candidate who knows no Ordinary Member of the Club, the Committee shall be empowered to carry out the election after proper enquiries.
5.2 Membership of the Club shall continue only for the period covered by the current subscription, and members shall be subject to re-election annually by the Committee.
5.3 All applications must be made by an individual in his or her own correct name and be signed by the said applicant personally.
6. SUBSCRIPTION
6.1 All members of the Club must pay their subscription in full upon acceptance for membership by the Committee and on 1 January each year thereafter except as set out in Rule 6.2.
6.2 All members of the Club who are elected for membership by the Committee on or after 1 November must pay their subscription in full upon acceptance for membership but shall not be required to make a subscription payment on the first 1 January immediately thereafter. Such members’ second subscription payment will instead fall due on the subsequent 1 January following their election for membership and continue on 1 January each year thereafter.
6.3 The rates of subscription are as follows:
6.3.1 Ordinary Members shall pay an annual subscription of £20.00.
6.3.1 Event Members shall pay an annual subscription of £12.00.
6.3.1 Social Members shall pay an annual subscription of £8.00.
6.4 The Committee reserves the right to amend subscription rates from time to time at its absolute discretion. Members shall pay amended subscription rates upon the next date that their subscription falls due after the subscription rate has been amended.
6.5 All subscription payments must be made by cheque made payable to “Autonomy Motor Sports Club Limited”.
7. NON-PAYMENT BY NEW MEMBERS
Any member who has been notified of his election and who fails to pay his subscription within one month of such notification shall be again requested in writing by the Committee to pay the same, and, if he fails to make payment within fourteen days thereafter his election shall be ipso facto, null and void. No newly elected member shall be entitled to any of the privileges of membership until after the payment of his first subscription.
8. NON-PAYMENT BY EXISTING MEMBERS
Any member of the Club who has not paid his subscription within two clear months of the date on which it became due shall be notified of the fact in writing by the Committee, and one month thereafter any member who has still failed to pay his subscription may, unless sufficient reason be shown to the satisfaction of the Committee be taken off the register of members forthwith. No member whose subscription is in arrears shall be eligible to take part in any events or competitions organised by the Club.
9. RESIGNATION
Any member wishing to resign his membership shall give notice in writing of such desire to the Committee on or before the date on which his subscription would have become due for renewal in any year, otherwise he shall be liable to pay his subscription for the ensuing year. Also any member ceasing, voluntarily or otherwise, to be a member of the Club, shall thereafter cease to have any claim upon the property of the Club or to enjoy any privileges of membership, but he or she shall remain liable for the payment of any debts due to the Club from him or her.
10. EXPULSION OF MEMBERS
It shall be the duty of the Committee if at any time they shall be of the opinion that the interests of the Club so require, by letter, to invite any member to withdraw from the Club within a time specified in such letter, and in default of such withdrawal to submit the question of his or her expulsion to a meeting of the Committee to be held within six weeks after the date of such letter. Members of the Committee shall be given at least seven days’ notice that a question of withdrawal or expulsion is to be discussed at a meeting of the Committee. The member whose expulsion is under consideration shall be given at least seven days’ notice of such a meeting and shall be allowed to offer an explanation of his or her conduct verbally or in writing and if two thirds of the Committee present shall then vote for his expulsion, he shall thereupon cease to be a member of the Club.
11. OBSERVANCE AND INTERPRETATION OF RULES
Every member binds himself to abide by the rules of the Club, and also by any modifications thereof made in conformity with such rules, and also to accept as final and binding the decision of the Committee in all cases of dispute or disagreement as to the interpretation of these rules.
12. ALTERATION OF RULES
Any alterations to these rules shall be made by the Committee in accordance with the Articles of Association of the Company.
13. EVENTS
All motor events and competitions organised by the Club shall be held under the rules and requirements of the MSA and the laws of England. Any member convicted of an offence arising out of his being in charge of a motor vehicle in any Club event or competition, or on Club business shall thereupon be liable to expulsion from the Club under Rule 10.
14. USE OF CLUB NAME AND ADDRESS
The name and address of the Club shall not be given by a member as his or her address for trade, advertising or business purposes or in connection with any legal proceedings.
15. COPIES OF RULES
Every member shall be furnished with a copy of the Club rules on election.
16. BADGES AND MEMBERSHIP CARDS
Any badges and membership cards issued to a member shall remain the property of the Club. On termination of their membership, members shall deliver up such badges and membership cards to the Committee. Members shall pay the Club a sum of £10.00 by cheque made payable to “Autonomy Motor Sports Club Limited” for replacement badges or membership cards.
17. DISSOLUTION
17.1 The Club may be dissolved by the Committee in accordance with the Articles of Association of the Company.
17.2 If the dissolution be duly passed, the Committee shall forthwith liquidate the affairs of the Club, and if there be any surplus assets on realisation, these shall be disposed of at the discretion of the Committee to an organisation with similar Objects to those of the Club.
17.3 Every member of the Committee will be liable for an amount not exceeding £10.00 in accordance with the Articles of Association of the Company in the event that the Company is wound up while he or she is a member or within one year after he or she ceases to be a member.
